We have a few different ways to support families and children economically.

We can...

  • give children the access to school by granting them supplies needed (school uniforms, books etc.) -> max. 30$
  • give family or children health insurances   15$ annually  COMMUNITY INSURANCE HEALTH
  • grant the parents with microfinance loans, so that they can start their own businesses. Sizes of loans depend from which kind of entrepreneurship they are planning to do
  • 20$ buy needed supplies for the girls group Wasiliana (paper, pens, football or other activities)

The family has received new mattresses for sleeping.

We also need financial resources for our employees transportation costs, when they are going to meet families on the field. The counseling and psycho social support is one of our main ways to work with families. With 5$, you can give our volunteer the access to visit families or visiting the girls group in the working area one time.

The economical support we are giving families is always depending of the overall situation of the supported family. We are always evaluating carefully from which kind of support the family would benefit the most.  The type of economical support can also vary from options mentioned above, depending on the family's or the child's condition as a whole.

What have we already done?

In Tambukareli

So far around 250 children have been supported by us on different ways. Supported children are from 4 years to older ones. Some of them have received school supplies, others have received other kind of economic or social support. We still have children waiting assistance

We have granted microfinance loans for parents in Butimba ward. For these parents we also organized the entrepreneurship course . We have also created peer groups for the parents with different problems. One example is the support group for parents with HIV. In groups parents can share their experiences and get social support from each other.

Creative activities in Tambukareli street, Butimba ward: Creative activities were started to encourage children, increase their self-confidence and help them to share their thoughts with other people. Activities were also provided to find out what kind of talents kids have. By creative activities we have also tried to see how vulnerable kids can get along with other kids. Parents responded positively and allowed their kids to come and join creative activities even three times a week.
